Yolanda has extensive experience in media, having worked in radio, local news, cable, network and private industry.
Yolanda’s talent has taken her from positions at national outlets like ABC News and ABC Radio to Washington, DC’s NewsChannel 8 and WJLA. She’s also experienced at working for start-up media organizations like the Retirement Living Network (RLTV) and the US office of the production company WebsEdge.
Yolanda began her career as a videotape librarian at ABC News, working with producers during the hotly contested presidential election of 2000. She then became a desk assistant at ABC Radio before transitioning to a writer position at NewsChannel 8, where she worked for 5 years on the Morning Rush Hour Report. Her next position would be as a segment producer for the RLTV, a start-up aimed at the 50+ audience. Yolanda produced the financial programs, before moving to the daily, live broadcast “Daily Cafe,” a news and interest program. She went on to produce more than 70 web-based films for WebsEdge, a global broadcasting company that specializes in making 5-minute documentary-style films for companies. She’s since incorporated social media into her repertoire, creating social media campaigns for a variety of agencies and businesses, including the Department of Defense.
She’s a member of several business and service organizations, including Women In Film & Video (WIFV), where she is a board member and has organized and served as the chairperson for the “Image Makers” program that teaches local high school students how to create public service announcements for non-profit groups. Yolanda is a member and former chapter president of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Yolanda has a love for all things fashion, travel and gadgets which she’s expressing by writing for blogs. Yolanda contributes content to various blogs, including: pop culture/entertainment-focused blog Witches’ Brew; DCWEEK digital conference blog and Beautiful Brown Girls online magazine. Yolanda has proven expertise in social media, analytics and using new media sites to expand an online presence for her clients.
Yolanda honed her craft at Syracuse University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Political Science.
